Q. Is there a penalty for giving my bib to another runner on race day or running a different race then I am registered for?

Yes.  Participants are NOT ALLOWED to transfer between races on race day. Any participant who runs under someone else’s bib, or who runs a different race than what they are registered for, will be disqualified and will not be scored. For the safety of our runners, and in case of a medical emergency, it is imperative that the registration data associated with the race number belongs to the person wearing the bib. If race organizers become aware that a runner has participated in one of our events with a bib that is not registered to that runner, both the runner and the person to whom the bib is registered will be prohibited from participating in subsequent Huntsville Marathon events for a minimum of two years.

Minimum Two-Year Ban for Unauthorized Runners

Our past races have had numerous participants running under someone else’s race number. While this may seem harmless to the parties perpetrating the bib transfer, it does convey serious consequences to the organizers and participant field alike.

From race results to finishers’ awards being impacted as well as medical staff being able to correctly identify participants in need of treatment, it is imperative that the registration data associated with your race number belong to you, the participant.

If race organizers become aware that a runner has participated in one of our events with a bib that is not registered to that runner, both the runner and the person to whom the bib is registered will be prohibited from participating in subsequent Huntsville Marathon events for a minimum of two years.
